In 2018, I founded the International Research Institute for Innovative Studies (IRIIS) out of a deep conviction that our global institutions were approaching a structural threshold.
The world had entered an era of hyper-complexity — a condition in which economic systems, technological ecosystems, political structures, and social dynamics became so deeply interconnected that traditional governance tools struggled to keep pace. A world, where sustainable economic growth could no longer be separated from strategic control.
States that fail to align leadership, innovation, institutional integrity, and long-term foresight – risk erosion of their competitiveness and sovereignty. Institutions that fail to integrate knowledge across disciplines – risk fragmentation. Innovation without governance invites instability; governance without innovation invites stagnation.
Against this backdrop, the IRIIS Global Hub was conceived to address a fundamental structural failure — the inability of existing systems to translate knowledge into sustainable, real-world impact.
Our work at IRIIS is not reactionary. It is architectural. We do not seek to amplify crisis; we seek to design stability. We do not pursue visibility for its own sake; we pursue structural coherence. This is not a short-term project. It is a generational endeavor.
